Abstract:
This national dataset brings together sixteen national datasets to create a GIS product that provides the information necessary to determine the extent to which the ground is suitable for infiltration sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). It includes derivations of the following datasets: soluble rocks, landslide hazards, groundwater flooding susceptibility, made ground, shallow mining hazards, geological indicators of flooding, depth to water table, superficial thickness, compressible ground, collapsible ground, swelling clays, running sands, predominant flow mechanism, permeability indices and the Environment Agencys source protection zone dataset. All datasets have been reclassified and reattributed (with text descriptions and a score field indicating the suitability of the ground for infiltration) and feature in the end product both as single entities, but also in derived 'screening' maps that combine numerous datasets.

Unrestricted access/use for BGS staff. Dataset created for a specific purpose, i.e. to determine the suitability of the ground for infiltration SuDS. This dataset contains no data in itself, it is a overarching dataset structure that brings together the following datasets: Mining Hazard (not including coal) in Great Britain for Sustainable Underground Drainage, SuDS_drain_bedrockpermeability_2012 , SuDS_drain_depthtowater_2012 , SuDS_drain_geologicalindicatorsofflooding_2012, SuDS_drain_screen_2012 , SuDS_drain_superficialpermeability_2012, SuDS_drain_superficialthickness_2012, SuDS_infiltrationconstraints_madeground_2012, SuDS_infiltrationconstraints_landslides_2012, SuDS_infitlrationconstraints_screen_2012, SuDS_infiltrationconstraints_shallowGW_2012, SuDS_infiltrationconstraints_shallowmining(non-coal)_2012, SuDS_infiltrationconstraints_solublerocks_2012, SuDS_stability_collapsibles_2012, SuDS_stability_compressibles_2012, SuDS_stability_landslides_2012, SuDS_stability_runningsand_2012, SuDS_stability_screen_2012, SuDS_stability_shallowmining_2012, SuDS_stability_solublerocks_2012, SuDS_stability_swellingclay_2012, SuDS_waterquality_madeground_2012, SuDS_waterquality_predominantflowmechanism_2012, SuDS_waterquality_screen_2012, SuDS_waterquality_sourceprotectionzone_2012 [13605612]. This dataset is of limited value without this accompanying data. This overall dataset, called the Infiltration SuDS Map, can be released to the public as an entity which includes all the above datasets. We may also decide to release SuDS_infiltrationmconstraints_screen_2012 [13605591], SuDS_drain_screen_2012 [13605597], SuDS_stability_screen_2012 [13605603] and SuDS_waterquality_screen_2012 [13605611] as a separate product that provides screening level data only without the underlying datasets. Data within the Infiltration SuDS Map will also be used in the SuDS GeoReport.

Other Constraints:
The copyright of materials derived from the British Geological Survey's work is vested in the Natural Environment Research Council [NERC]. No part of this work may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, or stored in a retrieval system of any nature, without the prior permission of the copyright holder, via the BGS Intellectual Property Rights Manager. Use by customers of information provided by the BGS, is at the customer's own risk. In view of the disparate sources of information at BGS's disposal, including such material donated to BGS, that BGS accepts in good faith as being accurate, the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) gives no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the quality or accuracy of the information supplied, or to the information's suitability for any use. NERC/BGS accepts no liability whatever in respect of loss, damage, injury or other occurence however caused.
Other Constraints:
Either: (i) the dataset is made freely available, e.g. via the Internet, for a restricted category of use (e.g. educational use only); or (ii) the dataset has not been formally approved by BGS for access and use by external clients under licence, but its use may be permitted under alternative formal arrangements; or (iii) the dataset contains 3rd party data or information obtained by BGS under terms and conditions that must be consulted in order to determine the permitted usage of the dataset. Refer to the BGS staff member responsible for the creation of the dataset if further advice is required. He / she should be familiar with the composition of the dataset, particularly with regard to 3rd party IPR contained in it, and any resultant use restrictions. This staff member should revert to the IPR Section (ipr@bgs.ac.uk) for advice, should the position not be clear.
