Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) MCZ: Farnes East: Benthic Sampling and Video Survey FRNE_cend0412: Southern North Sea (09/03/2012 to 13/03/2012)

Benthic survey carried out at the Farnes East recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) by the RV Cefas Endeavour in March 2012 as part of a series of co-ordinated surveys of multiple sites designed to increase the evidence-base informing policy decisions on the designation of Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs) within the United Kingdom (UK) Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Ground truthing survey to collect seabed sediment samples using a mini 0.1m2 Hamon grab and camera sledge survey. These data are archived with the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) Data Archive Centres (DACs) including the British Geological Survey (BGS) DAC for geology and geophysics, The Archive for Marine Species and Habitats Data (DASSH) and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) bathymetry DAC. The full site data package including raw is also available on request from BGS.

Sample equipment types used included: Grab: Amon or Hamon. CEFAS was contracted to undertake the survey on behalf of Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
