2004 Strategic Environmental Assessment SEA5 Analysis of macroinvertebrate samples from Docking Shoal, Ower Bank, Race Bank (North Sea)

This report describes the processing method employed for the analysis of biological samples from a range of depths in the SEA5 area, North Sea collected from Wessex Explorer in summer 2003 as part of the Department of Trade and Industry's (now Department of Energy and Climate Change) Strategic Environmental Assessment SEA5. A spreadsheet of data is included.

Data Quality

0.1m2 Van Veen grab samples were taken from the Wessex Explorer in summer 2003 as part of the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change's Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment programme. The samples were stored at ERM, Edinburgh and collected by Unicomarine in January 2004. The samples were sieved in the laboratory at the three mesh sizes and all the fauna were removed from the sediment. All laboratory processing was carried out according to Unicomarine standard operating procedures.
