Data Quality
This report was prepared by C Pollock and G Leaper Cork Ecology as part of the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change's Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment programme. Seabirds were recorded using standard methodology for counting birds as sea. A dedicated cetacean survey was conducted by a second observer in sea-states of up to 4, unless the swell exceeded 2.5m. Survey methods were based on Hammond. Above sea-state 4, cetaceans were only recorded by the bird observer using SAST (Seabirds at Sea Team) methods.
