Sediment samples were collected during September to October 2003 as part of the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change's Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment programme. The report was compiled by Gardline Environmental Ltd under contract to Geotek Ltd. Macrofaunal identification and enumeration was carried out by the Natural History Museum (NHM), headed by Dr Roger Bamber. A reference collection of all taxa identified was established by the NHM and delivered to the National Museums of Scotland (NMS) for long term archiving. This laboratory, utilised by Gardline Environmental, meets QA/QC requirements exacted by Gardline's internal procedures (BS/EN/ISO 9002).
