Data Quality

Reflectance Transformation Imaging of a plaster-of-Paris cast taken from a silicone rubber mould of the fossil which remains in situ in Charnwood Forest. The file is built from multiple images of the cast, taken under the same lighting conditions but at different vertical and radial positions. For methodology, see Anon, 2013. Reflectance Transformation Imaging. Guide to RTIViewer, document version 1.1. Cultural Heritage Imaging http://culturalheritageimaging.org/What_We_Offer/Downloads/rtiviewer/RTIViewer_Guide_v1_1.pdf. For a summary of the technique's application to Ediacaran fossils, see Kenchington et al. (2018). Proceedings of the Geologist's Association, 129, 264-277. The necessary software to build and view the files is open source http://culturalheritageimaging.org/What_We_Offer/Downloads/View/
