Clumped and stable Isotope Data for the Falkland Plateau and Deep Sea Drilling Project Site 511 (NERC grant NE/J020842/1)

Clumped isotope analyses, raw data, replicates and temperatures calculated using the empirical calibration of Wacker et al. (2014), recalculated using the [Brand] isotopic parameters.

Data Quality

Clumped isotope analyses were performed using a ThermoFisher MAT 253 gas-source isotope-ratio mass spectrometer connected to an automated gas extraction and purification line at the Institut für Geowissenschaften, J. W. Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt am Main, Germany . Carbonate digestion (90 °C), CO2 purification and subsequent measurement procedures are detailed in Bajnai et al.45. Background correction for the clumped isotope analyses was performed as described in Fiebig et al.50. Raw isotope values were calculated using the [Brand] set of isotopic parameters51. The raw δ47 data were projected to the Carbon Dioxide Equilibrium Scale (CDES52) using empirical transfer functions (ETF) that were determined using equilibrated gases (25°C and 1000°C, respectively) of various bulk isotope composition. An acid fractionation factor of +0.069‰ was applied to all δ47 (CDES 25) values53.
