Groundwater Vulnerability to Pollution I index map (Impact of the vadose zone) in Catalonia according to DRASTIC

Impact of the vadose zone map indicates the level of influence of the geological layers above the groundwater level. It is expressed as an index value, according to DRASTIC ranges from 1 to 10, being 1 the areas with confining layers and 10 areas with karst limestone layers.

Data Quality

The map of the vadose zone impact has been created in collaboration with the Catalan Water Agency (ACA). It has been calculated from the Geological Map of Catalunya at 1:50.000 (ICGC, 2014) with a direct assignment of "I" values for each lithology, according to DRASTIC ranges.
