This geophysical survey has been carried out by Digicon Geophysical, for British Geological Survey (BGS), the Multichannel Deep Seismic survey took place from July to August 1993 in the Rockall area on board the MV Acadian Searcher. The purpose was to collect data as part of Rockall Continental Margin Project: 1) to shoot a grid of lines on eastern flank of Rockall Bank; 2) to shot three long transect lines across Rockall Bank and the Rockall-Hatton Basin down to 18sec two-way time; 3) to acquire gravity d...

This British Geological Survey (BGS) marine geophysical survey took place in May to July 2000 in the Hatton and Rockall Banks aboard the RV Colonel Templer. This was a regional geophysical survey to gather high resolution seismic, gravity and magnetic data of the area. A total of 5611km of data were collected in a grid of 58 survey tracks using a suite of seismic instruments (airgun, sparker and echo sounder) and also gravity meter and magnetometer. The data was recorded digitally and is archived by BGS. T...

This marine sampling survey comprised four 2-week legs and formed part of the Rockall Continental Margin Project. It was undertaken from April to June 1994 in the Hatton-Rockall area of the north Atlantic on board the MV Kommandor Therese. The purpose was: 1) to obtain short sea-bed cores for geological calibration of high-resolution seismic profiles obtained in 1992 as part of the same project. 2) to obtain short sea-bed gravity cores, targeted at specific structures, and subsequently geochemically analys...

This sampling survey has been carried out by British Geological Survey (BGS) for BGS, the survey took place in September 1994 in the Rockall Bank/Rockall Trough area on board the MS Bucentaur. The purpose was to collect borehole data as part of the Rockall continental Margin Project. Sample data were collected at seven borehole sites using wireline drilling equipment. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS report WB/94/30C.

This sampling survey has been carried out by British Geological Survey (BGS) for the Rockall Consortium, the survey took place from to June-July 1999 in the Hatton and Rockall Banks, west of Shetland, Faroe-Shetland Channel areas on board the MS Bucentaur. The purpose was to collect data as part of the Rockall Consortium to provide an insight into the largely undefined geology of the Hatton Bank and Faeroe Bank area and provide further calibration for seismic data in the west of Shetland area. Sample data ...

A collection of aerial photographs providing national coverage supplied to BGS by Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS). The aerial photos bought by BGS were taken during a two year period from 1988-89 and were bought by BGS for individual mapping projects. The photos are a copy of the originals held by the RCAHMS. Since 1976, RCAHMS has undertaken an annual programme of aerial survey, recording archaeological sites, monuments and buildings throughout Scotland. All R...

Iso-content maps of Rubidium (Rb), one of the chemical elements.obtained in the Geochemical Atlas of Spain Project, distributed in stream sediments (14,864 samples), superficial soils (0-20 cm.) (13,505 samples) and deeper soils (20-40 cm.) (7,682 samples). The results of the chemical analysis are shown in two types: total dissolution of the sample with 4 acids and partial dissolution with aqua regia. With the analytical results of all the sampled points, an isocontent map is made with adjustment to a squa...

The 5km Hex GS Running Sand dataset shows a generalised view of the GeoSure Running Sand v7 dataset to a hexagonal grid resolution of 64.95km coverage area (side length of 5km). This dataset indicates areas of potential ground movement in a helpful and user-friendly format. The rating is based on a highest level of susceptibility identified within that Hex area: Low (1), Moderate (2), Significant (3). Areas of localised significant rating are also indicated. The summarising process via spatial statistics a...
