This web map service shows faults and structures of geological units of the seafloor originated earlier than 2,588 Ma from now (pre-Quaternary). The data were compiled by BGR from the EMODnet geology partner organisations in the EMODnet Geology project phases I, II and III between 2009 and 2021 and the International Geological Map of Europe and Adjacent Areas (Asch, 2005). The scale varies between 1:200 000 and 1:5 000 000

The Predictive Map of Expansivity Risks of Spanish Clays at a scale of 1:1,000. 000 delimits the clay formations, classifying them into 4 grades according to their expansivity potential: Non-expansive clays or clays dispersed in a non-clay matrix: No or low risk of expansivity; Subordinate expansive clays or clays located in climatic zones without an annual humidity deficit: Low to moderate expansivity risk; Locally predominant expansive clays located in climatic zones with annual moisture deficit: Moderat...

A comprehensive core scanning dataset from the Prees-2C borehole. This borehole was drilled onshore in the Cheshire Basin, Shropshire, UK, in November and December 2020 as part of the JET project (Integrated understanding of Early Jurassic Earth system and timescale - https://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=NE 2FN018508 2F1) and principally funded by the ICDP, NERC, and DFG. The approximately 620 m-long Early Jurassic core succession (>99% recovery) mainly comprises mudstone, limestone, and siltstone. The core s...

Radiographic images of pyrope samples synthesised at pressures of 4-15 GPa, all collected at 2.5GPa and temperatures from 773 to 1573K. The samples are deformed sinusoidally at strains of up to 5 mimcrostrain and periods from 10s to 360s – 10 frames of images were collected per cycle for a total of 1000 frames. Data collected at NSLS X17B2 using the deformation-DIA press until its closure, thereafter collected at the replacement beamline at APS using the same press. These data are currently being prepared ...

Prime Geological Data resulting from deep underground coal exploration and exploitation produced by the British Coal Board and/or its precursors. The collection dates back to the 18th century and covers all the British coal mining areas and includes borehole site plans, borehole logs, analyses and geophysical data etc. Apart from primary data relating to past and current collieries and for future prospects the information includes reports, interpretations and records of research. The majority of the collec...

The models are probabilistic inferences of earth structure and earthquake location based around travel times of P and S waves recorded at seismic stations above New Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, UK. For each point in the subsurface, we present many different values of the P- and S-wave velocity which are compatible with the data. Likewise, we present many event locations for each earthquake included in the dataset. These different models represent the posterior probability distribution respectively for the su...
