WMS Service provides CGS - Soil map at a scale of 1:1M has been compiled by Milan Tomášek and published with a publication Soils of the Czech Republic (3rd edition, Czech Geological Survey, 2003). Part of this map service is a layer describing soil grain size.

The maps show the soil cover of the Czech Republic. They express the typological affiliation of the soil in the "Taxonomic classification system of soils of the Czech Republic" (Němeček et al., 2011), or the version for forest soils (Vokoun et al., 2002), i.e. soil type, subtype, soil variety, or subvariety. Database contains data from gamma-spectrometry survey. Gamma-ray spectrometry survey means measurement of natural radioactive isotopes concentration i.e. potassium 40K [%], uranium 328U and 235U [ppm], thorium 232Th [ppm]; simultaneously, total gamma-ray activity was registered. This survey started in 1976 and covered about 60 % of the territory.

WMS service makes accessible collective information on territory for information providing purpose by course of article 27 Act no. 183/2006 Coll. (Building act) from the following GIS layers: mining leases, protected areas of mineral deposits, areas protected against specific impacts in the Earth’s crust, reserved deposits and approved prognostic resources, registered mine workings (old mine workings), undermined areas, landslide areas, and non-reserved mineral deposits.
